Nijmegen
The Titus Brandsma Institute was established in 1968 as a collaborative venture between Radboud University, Nijmegen and the Dutch Carmel Province, in memory of Professor Dr. Titus Brandsma (1881-1942) O.Carm. It is a scientific research institute which, consistent with the nature of spirituality, combines scientific and applied research. It therefore has a double purpose:
- The academic study of the foundations, history and themes of historical and contemporary forms of spirituality, within the Judeo-Christian tradition, for the purpose of
- applying the results and insights gained through scholarly research to areas such as spiritual accompaniment, actualised interpretations, lived spirituality and the provision of services with regard to social, ecclesiastical and religious organisations.
